CLASSES

Your adventure starts here...

Day 1: 9 September | Rome - Montespertoli | D*

This morning a group transfer will meet us in Rome and transfer us to our retreat in Tuscany. In the evening enjoy a yoga and meditation session before you are invited to a welcome dinner hosted by Ramone.

Day 2: 10 September | Montespertoli | B, L, D

Start the day with a morning yoga and meditation session. Today we explore some of Tuscany’s quaint villages. We visit Saint’ Antimo Abbey, an exquisitely imposing structure and truly one of the jewels of the area on the famous via Francigena pilgrimage route. We continue toMontalcino, home to Italy’s premium Brunello di Montalcino wine. This little town boasts over 220 wineries and is the gateway to the Val d’Orcia. Wander the charming old town streets, that are perfect for getting leisurely lost in. This evening take part in another yoga and meditation session with Ramone.

Day 3: 11 September | Saturnia Hot Spring | B, D

This morning enjoy a yoga and meditation session with Ramone before embarking on a day in the Tuscan countryside. We visit the uniquely beautiful Pitigliano. Once a refuge for a largeJewish community escaping persecution by the Papal States in the 1500s, it stands eerily empty today. We continue our journey to Sovana, a one-street-town. And what a street it is, with its picturesque houses lining the Roman cobblestone road leading to, arguably, the mostausterely beautiful Romanesque church in the region. We then visit Sorano, built along a ridge overlooking the Lente River Gorge, with picturesque terrace gardens and hobbit-like cantine (cellars) dug out of the tufa below town. We end our day of exploration at Saturnia Hot Springs. The spectacular falls are free of charge and fill natural pools with 37°C water all year round. This evening enjoy a yoga and meditation session.

Day 4: 12 September | Montespertoli | B, D

After a morning yoga and meditation session enjoy a day free at leisure. You can relax, explore the area or enjoy some holistic treatments (at an additional cost). In the evening take part in another yoga and meditation session.

*note B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner and indicate meals included in the retreat package. Meals NOT listed will be  at your own cost.

Day 5: 13 September | Siena | B, D

Before we embark on a full day in Siena, enjoy a yoga and meditation session. Once in Siena, you have the day free to explore on your own. There is so much to discover in this amazingly beautiful city. You will have time for shopping and site seeing through the gorgeous cobblestone streets. Siena is really one the most beautiful cities in Italy.

Day 6: 14 September | Montespertoli | B, D

After our daily morning yoga and meditation session with Ramone experience a day free at leisure. Enjoy a leisurely day at the retreat, do some walking and explore the area or you may like to choose some of the other optional activities on offer such as holistic treatments, cooking classes or Vedic Art workshops (an additional cost applies for the optional activities). In the evening enjoy a yoga and meditation session.

Day 7: 15 September | Montespertoli | B, D

Begin the day with a yoga and meditation session. Today is dedicated to the local wines and olive oil. We visit a fascinating castle with its manor’s wine cellar and learn about the local wine and extra virgin olive oil production. Afterwards be treated to some exclusive wine tasting at the castle. End the day with a yoga and meditation session.

Day 8: 16 September | Montespertoli - Rome | B

After our daily morning yoga and meditation session, we farewell our gracious hosts. A group transfer will take us back to Rome where our tour concludes. Ciao a presto!

If you would like to extend...

Optional add-on: 16-20 September | Cinque Terre

If you would like to continue your yoga holiday in Italy you can join Ramone for an extra four days of relaxing in the Italian Riviera in one of the colourful and rugged Cinque Terre seaside villages. Similar to the above itinerary this will include one morning yoga and meditation class followed by a range of activities and a selection of meals. Price and itinerary available on request from Active Travel.

And continues here...

The fine print and frequently asked questions...

What's not included?

There are a few things you'll need to organise on your own before you arrive at the Eat, Play Namaste Retreat and a couple of costs you'll be responsible for covering on your own whilst on tour. These include:

  • International airfares

  • Travel medical and cancellation insurance (it is a condition of attendance that you hold a valid travel insurance policy)

  • Items of a personal nature

  • Any additional sightseeing, optional activities, excursions and meals NOT listed on the official itinerary.

  • Any pre- or post- retreat travel arrangements

Can I get help organising my trip?

Absolutely! This trip is being run in collaboration with Active Travel in Canberra. They are a full service travel agency and can assist you with everything from booking your international flights, to suggesting itineraries pre- or post- retreat, to helping you select suitable travel insurance for your upcoming adventure. You can contact active travel on 1300 783 188 or at askus@activetravel.com.au

Which city in Italy should I fly in to and out of?

Eat, Play Namaste begins and ends in Rome. Transfers can also be organised to Florence at no additional cost. If you would like to organise transfer to or from a different city in Italy, please contact Active Travel and they will prepare a quote for the additional cost of your transfer.

What kind of yoga will we practice?

We will practice a range of styles of yoga asana (the physical kinds of postures you do on a mat!) from stronger and flowing to gentle and restorative. There will be Vinyasa and Yin Yoga if you are more familiar with those therms. There will also be a meditation component with daily practice of seated guided and self-directed mindfulness meditation. We will also practice yoga nidra (guided visualisation).

Can I come if I'm a beginner or new to yoga?

There is a loooong time between now and Eat, Play Namaste so if you're a beginner and keen to come I would get your asana to your local yoga studio NOW! If you don't live near a yoga studio, there are loads of great online platforms for taking yoga classes in the comfort of your own home! Try YogaGlo or My Daily Yoga to start. The yoga curriculum is not designed for absolute beginners. However if you come with an open mind and a physically willing and able body I would be delighted to have you join me!
